Description
The AGM will begin at 16.45 followed by the President's lecture at 17.00 on 'Royal Archaeological Institute Past: Women and the RAI'.
Past Presidents' Lectures have examined the history of the RAI and those presidents who have gone before. This presentation will examine the role of women in the Royal Archaeological Institute, drawing on research undertaken by the Beyond Notability project, which seeks to explore the histories of women active in archaeology, history and heritage as revealed in the archives of the Society of Antiquaries of London and the Royal Archaeological Institute. In particular, the role and activities of our first female President, Dame Joan Evans, will be discussed.
